About The Course

The FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football provides you with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to attend a conscious or unconscious player, ensuring that appropriate care is given until the emergency medical services arrive and takeover, or until an alternative healthcare professional(s) assumes responsibility. It is a practical guide to dealing with the essential components of saving a life, both in training and matches.

This course goes beyond generic first aid and includes elements specific to football.

  • Can i bring my child to a taster session without registering?
    Yes, we would always encourage an introductory taster sessions before regsistering. In order to arrange a for a free taster session, please call the appropriate manager for your child's age group.
  • What kit do i need to buy for my child?
    For all training sessions you will need to provide the appropriate footwear (Astro or Studs), shin pads, waterproof clothing and a drink. Heathwaite FC provides football tops on match days, children will need their own black short and socks.
  • How much is registration for the season
    Registration to Heathwaite FC is £100 for the season, which is payable as follows: Part seasons are charged at pro-rata rate if joining mid-term..
  • Will my child play in weekend football matches from the begining?
    That all depends on the child, but in most cases it can take a few sessions of familiarisation with the team, and some confidence building before introducing a player in to a competitive game.
  • What if my child has medical condition such as asthma?
    The FA have set strict guidelines for youth football with regards to medical conditions, but conditions such as asthma are permissible. It is a requirement of registrtion to declare all medical conditions, however small. Please talk to a Manager or our Child Welfare Officer if you have any further questions.

Course Pre-requisites

The course is applicable to coaches, team managers, parents, teachers, volunteers and carers.

Outcomes

This course will:

  • Offer basic advice on how to limit the effects of injury and promote recovery.

  • Provide you with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to be able to attend a conscious or unconscious casualty and ensure that appropriate care is given until the emergency medical services arrive and takeover, or until an alternative healthcare professional(s), assumes responsibility for the casualty.

 

Availability

This course is organised and run by our local County FA, with dates set up throughout the season for you to choose from.
